IELTS Speaking Part 2 topic Education

Question: Describe a subject you enjoyed studying at school.

One subject I particularly enjoyed studying at school was History. I began studying History when I entered secondary school at the age of 11. Our history lessons took place in a traditional classroom setting, with the teacher using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures, group discussions, and multimedia presentations.

What made History different from other subjects was its storytelling aspect. Instead of just memorizing facts and figures, we were encouraged to delve into the narratives of different historical events, exploring the motives of key figures and the consequences of their actions. Our lessons were like voyages through time, where we would immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of human history.

What I enjoyed most about studying History was the opportunity to understand the world around me in a deeper context. Learning about the struggles and triumphs of past civilizations helped me gain a broader perspective on current events and societal issues. Additionally, History provided me with critical thinking skills as we analyzed primary and secondary sources, evaluated historical evidence, and formed our own interpretations of historical events.

Moreover, History sparked my curiosity and fueled my passion for learning. I found myself drawn to the fascinating stories of courage, resilience, and innovation that shaped our world. Whether it was studying ancient civilizations, world wars, or social movements, each topic offered a treasure trove of insights and lessons that resonated with me on a personal level.

Overall, studying History was not just about memorizing dates and events; it was a journey of discovery that enriched my understanding of humanity and instilled in me a lifelong love for learning.

Describe your typical study day.

A typical study day for me starts with waking up early and having a healthy breakfast. In the morning, I review my notes from previous classes and make a plan for the day. If I have classes, I attend them and take detailed notes. After lunch, I usually go to the library or a quiet café to study with my friends. We go over our study materials and help each other with difficult concepts. In the evening, I dedicate time to revising and memorizing key information. I also take short breaks to avoid getting overwhelmed. To manage my study time effectively, I use a planner to prioritize tasks and set achievable goals for each day.

I’ve had the opportunity to analyze the works of renowned English authors, study the evolution of the English language, and delve into cross-cultural communication studies.

Question 2: What was your favourite subject as a child?

Well, as a child, my favorite subject was definitely science. I was always curious about how things worked and why they happened the way they did. I’m currently a senior student at Hunan University, and I’m studying computer science at the moment.

I try to wake up at a decent time in the morning. If I don’t have class, I spend the morning organizing my notes from the day before. I also like going to a café with my friends to go over our study materials. In the evening, I’ll go over my notes in more detail and memorize essential information.

Sometimes it can be hard. When I have tremendous tasks to do, it’s difficult to decide which ones to give precedence to. I can get overwhelmed and feel like I don’t have enough time. But it’s helpful to list everything and arrange my time based on essence and urgency.

I think my friend Amy is the most helpful. She devises a magical system for organizing her notes. She shared it with me and now I can study a lot better. I really like studying with her and our other friends. We all keep each other motivated.

There are lots of websites and apps that can quiz you and test your knowledge. All you have to do is input your terms and then you can use online flashcards. I’ve used a couple of them to memorize important terms before an exam. They’re definitely a life-saver when you’re in a rush to catch up on some class content.

I think morning is the best for academic purposes. You have to wake up earlier, but when you get through the work, you have the rest of the day off. And the afternoon is usually a better time of day to enjoy yourself. So, it’s best to get studying over with as early as possible.

Yes, I am. I’ve been studying as a student for almost 18 years of my life. I really expect to have a dignified job after college graduation.
